I am a Christian, saved by grace alone, not by any effort or greatness of my own.
This is the chief thing that defines me, but there are some things that make me uniquely me:
I believe that technology can never replace paper.
I believe that one person’s rights often step on the rights of someone else.
I believe that the Bible is the true and inerrant Word of God.
I believe that morality is not dictated by human instinct or culture.
I believe that relativism is a poison in the minds of the new generations.
I believe that stiletto shoes are worth the pain.
I believe that there is something lovable in every one of my students.
I believe that black is the old, current and new black.
I believe that books expand your world.
I believe that human life is sacred, even inside the womb.
I believe that being warm supersedes being fashionable.
I believe that time is more valuable than money.
I believe that feminism has gone too far.
I believe that the media shapes what we believe.
I believe that every child should have climbed a tree.
I believe that too few people know what they believe.
I’m a high school teacher who loves many things including reading, writing and having deep discussions about life, time and the universe.
I’m committed to keeping each post in this blog at 250 words or less, and would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on what I write.

Welcome to the blogging world! I’m so glad to meet you. You sound like a kindred spirit who loves to write, teach, and gawk about God๐
Thanks so much Angie. I’m loving my ‘induction’ so far. Thank you for stopping by!
I’m so glad you visited my blog. It’s nice to connect with another deep dwelling blogger. I agree, technology can never replace paper. ๐
Thanks so much Lori. And thanks for following. x
Hey!
I have nominated you for both the Sunshine Award and the Versatile Blogger Award. I hope that you will accept these along with my congratulations and pass them onto blogs that you love! (: See the rules at http://mylittlebookblog.wordpress.com/2013/05/27/sunshine-and-versatile-blogger-awards/ Congratulations!
Thank you so much! I’ve decided at this stage not to accept awards as I’m not sure it fits with the purpose of my blog, but I greatly appreciate the honour and compliment.
x
Awesome! Just thought you needed recognition for your brilliant blog! ๐
Thank you! I love yours as well!
Thank you! ๐
I’ve been enjoying reading your blog so I nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award. No pressure to post about it … Just wanted to show my appreciation.
http://especiallymade.wordpress.com/2013/05/31/whatever-is-lovely/
Thank you so much! That really means a lot. I love your blog too!
Good morning (at least here) and thanks for stopping by my blog and liking one of the posts. I agree with you about technology and paper. What would we have done if Paul had had an Ipod? My Strong’s Concordance made an excellent booster seat for our firstborn son. Probably can’t do that with the latest I-thing.
Blessings to you and your words on the blog.
haha true. And thank you. Thanks for stopping by my blog too
Your “About me” is fantastic, if we had more teacher like you, this would be a better world..
Thanks so much! And thank you for reposting this! Such an honour.
[…] About. […]
Love your list! We think a lot alike :)…
Thank you!!
Interesting blog. the autumn piece is just too warm.. i agree wuth you on most of your views.. except the one about the bible.. it is well known it has been altered several times since God had sent it.. which is why God sent the Quran and promised to save it from any form of corruption..it remains the only surviving inerrant word of his almighty today.
Hi! thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment.
I have to disagree with your comment that it is well know that it has been altered several times. I don’t know where you’re getting your information from, but if you really look into it for yourself, I think you’ll find that the Bible is one of the most accurate and well-preserved historical documents that we have.
No problem ๐ I’m sorry i picked out on your religious views. I hate to be critical of other people’s opinions and beliefs, however when it comes down to finding the truth about our being and the purpose of our lives, it is I believe duty of the guided to spread the message, may they be Christians, Muslims, Buddhists or whatever. May I ask which bible you follow? The very fact that different denominations in Christianity have chosen to follow certain books while rejecting others is itself a subject of question. Who gives whoever the right to do such a thing?! But it’s because of the different translations, omissions, and additions that the followers of this book have been divided as such. Also, there are certain texts in the bible that degrade the prophets of God. Something I find very odd for a sane person to accept of those who are the God-sent messenger and leaders of humanity. The Quran on the other hand preserves the stories of Adam, Abraham, David, Moses, Solomon, Joseph, Jacob, Jesus, and the rest of the prophets in their gracious truth, Not only that, but God, throughout the Quran, condemns several times those who altered the bible and vows to punish them severely in the hereafter.
No worries Salma, I appreciate hearing your views. I read the standard Christian Holy Bible, containing the 66 books inspired by God. I’d encourage you to further research what you have heard about this book, I think you may be surprised. I know it to be the Word of God both by the way in which is is historically accurate, textually inerrant, prophetically precise, and most of all, for the way in which it has changed my life through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No one offers hope, assurance and confidence for the future like He does. In Him there is forgiveness of sins and no condemnation!
Thank you for visiting my blog! I have enjoyed reading several of your posts, and really appreciate your straight-forwardness, and honesty. God bless you!!
Thanks very much! Look forward to sharing more with you!
I love your about page!!!! Thanks for visiting with me, Jesus Christ is Lord!!! ๐
Thank so much! Thanks for visiting me back!! And Amen to that! x
I definately agree with the things you believe in, especially that technology can never replace paper and that the Bible is God’s true and inerrant Word ๐
Also, welcome to the blogging world ๐ I’m fairly new myself. I love the inviting feel of your blog. Can’t wait to look around.
Many blessings to you as you bless others through your blog!!!
Thanks so much!
Awesome! I like your style! Thanks for visiting my blog. You are always welcome anytime! ๐ God bless you!
Thank you so much. I’m sure I’ll be visiting again. Always great to meet others on wordpress who love Jesus! x
๐
Thanks for visiting my blog. Enjoyed your ABOUT and agree with everything except the stiletto heels which I could never wear at my age. I like that every child should experience tree climbing. When the grounds keeper wasn’t around at a nearby park I let my students climb the short but strong frangipani trees.
haha I hear you. I think that my stilleto heel days are numbered, but I’m determined to keep it up while I can. Hopefully I won’t ruin my feet though!
Glad you agree on the tree climbing too! ๐
Hi,
Thank you for visiting the Lantern Post -:)!
Freely subscribe to numbers: 1,2,6,9,13,14,15, and 16 above!
Take Care,
Daniela
haha thanks Daniela!
I had to go back and check which ones those were, and I was going to say ‘good choice’ but then I realized that of course I’m going to think they’re all good choices!
Thanks for visiting me back!
Thanks for your comment and loving this believes list, whilst not a practising christian, I was raised as such and agree with much of what you have said here (was tempted to plagiarise some too tbh!)
Hope to hear from you again and look forward to reading more of your blog.
Thanks so much Andy. I got the idea from that Savage Garden song ‘Affirmation.’ Had some fun with some friends one day trying to sing my version to their tune… doesn’t work very well!
Glad you visited, look forward to staying in touch.
Because I love your blog so much I have nominated you for the Liebster Award!! You can find out more information at my post: http://booklovers1.wordpress.com/2013/08/20/ive-been-nominated-for-the-liebster-award/
Thank you so much! What a lovely compliment. At this stage I’ve decided not to accept and pass on the awards, but I genuinely appreciate this. Means so much to me that people are reading and enjoying my blog. I enjoy your various book insights too! x
That’s alright ๐ I’m just happy to let you know how much I appreciate your blog! Blessings.
Thank you! Feeling blessed ๐
Hi ๐
Saw you over on Marlene’s blog and came to take a peek ๐ Love what you are all about.
I agree with everything but the stilettos ๐ Those are my ‘photo only’ shoes ๐ I ditch them for bare feet at the first chance I get.
Blessings to you my sister
JC
Thank you!! So nice to have new people visit, and sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you.
I’ve been known to ditch the stilettos at times myself, particularly on the dance floor at weddings… though it’s been gross to discover that the floor is all wet and sticky!
I nominated you for a Liebster Award. Here is a link to my post where you can get the instructions for acccepting the award. http://juliesspoonfulofsugar.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/wow-an-award
Thank you Julia! What an honour!
Very nice blog. Look forward to reading more of it.
I agree with all the statements in the article, even this one I think is correct
“I believe that morality is not dictated by human instinct or culture.”
Romans ch. 1 and 2 make it clear that God put his law in our hearts even if we choose to reject Him.
Thank you! And thanks for following it!
Yes you make a good point too. Sadly too often we work out our own morality based on what ‘feels’ right. Unfortunately that’s always chopping and changing through the generations!
I love your “I Believe” list. I have saved it to my documents so I can review it once in a while. I also borrowed your beautiful photograph of the railroad track and the fall color for my FaceBook page. I hope you don’t mind, Do you have a FaceBook page?
Thanks Carl.
The railroad photo is not mine. As far as I can tell it is a creative commons photograph, though the site I got it from wasn’t 100% sure of its origin either.
I don’t have a facebook page associated with this blog, only with my website bookclassifications.com.
Iโve nominated you for the Sunshine Award! If you choose to participate, you can see the post here:
http://wateringcanblog.com/2013/11/15/sunshine-and-laughter/
I truly enjoy your blog, or I wouldnโt have nominated you! Thanks for bringing sunshine into my day!
Thank you so much Vickie, that really means a lot. x
